Rainy winter, April strangely dry, the opposite of a very rainy May. Early summer did not start off as warm as 2000, while August was hotter than usual, which caused water stress on the grapes. Rain at the beginning of September cooled things down and brought a good range of night and day temperatures right through to the end of October. Harvest was early with grapes having good phenolic ripening and ready of tannins.
